Media : Oil painting set in a neutral contemptary frame
Framed size: 21 inches x 7 inches
One of a series of oils paintings by John Robert Smith, coming from his feelings about lockdown and how withdrawal from society - at least in the physical sense - affects us. Especially people whose energy for life comes from being with, working with and playing with other people in a shared love of something. In this case music.
So, imagine.... a guitarist in lockdown, going up the wall, gives in and takes his rowing boat out onto the loch, with his dog, to play to the full moon. His music is heard by a violinist who takes her rowing boat out to join him. A double bass player hears the music and takes his rowing boat out to join them. A drummer ....and so on. Social distancing rules are observed.
The paintings are a poignant , but hopefully heart warming reminder that we will make music together again, hopefully soon.
