Ian Biggs

Originally from Northamptonshire Ian always felt more at home in Scotland ever since a family holiday in the early 90's and always returned every year since then. In 2016 after taking voluntary redundancy from his day job he didn't hesitate to make the move, so from June 2017 he's now based in Kinloch Rannoch and the only regret was not doing it years earlier. Before moving to Scotland Ian was a contributor to some of the photographic magazines before digital came along. For 2 years I have been awarded runner up in the Scottish Landscape Photographer of the Year competition and I have been published in B&W Minimalist magazine including a cover shot for one issue and also the cover shot for the international yearbook.

Ian has his own gallery in Kinnloch Rannoch where the work in the gallery is from the immediate area and he is always adding to his image library which is posted on the gallery Facebook page.

Quite often looking for new areas that I haven't covered locally which means a lot of walking and exploring as well as going over Ordnance Survey maps for 'off the beaten track' areas while building an intimate knowledge of the area and uses his mountain bike to reach these places so he can cover greater distances or reduce the time instead of walking. In fact Ian has become much 'greener' as he either walks, cycles (as he's always done) and now use an electric vehicle to travel when it's too far on the bike, further reducing my carbon footprint to a minimum which seems very appropriate for the area particularly with noise pollution as it's such a peaceful place to be.
